History of Power Drama School

Power Drama School was founded in August 2012 and the school have performed 9 productions to date, 8 of which have been free to the public.

Rehearsals are currently underway for "A Christmas Carol" and "The Dragon of Krakow" which will take place in December 2013.



Power Drama School were awarded the Liam Murray Cup in Lusk St. Patrick's Day Parade for Best Performing Arts Group

Power Drama School were awarded 2nd runner up in Fingal Community Group of the Year Awards 2013 in the Arts, Culture and Heritage Category by Fingal County Council. Over 178 groups were nominated for the awards in 8 different categories so it was a great honour to have come 2nd runner up in our category.

About the Director

Power Drama School is directed by Loraine Power, BA in International Business and Languages, Diploma in Drama and Theatre Studies.

Loraine Power - Director of Power Drama School

Loraine has taught FETAC Level 3 and 4 courses in Drama for eight years in Youthreach centres for City of Dublin VEC (2004 - 2009) and County Dublin VEC (2008 - 2011). During this time the students have produced numerous plays and four short films - "Numb", "A Christmas Carol", "Browny" and an "Informational film on Oesophageal Cancer".

In addition to this Loraine has delivered workshops and produced plays for the following groups/organisations;

Loraine has trained with Priorswood Drama Group, Dublin Youth Theatre, Dublin Institute of Technology and Blackbox Theatre Company. She has taken part in Musical Theatre Workshops with Glasnevin Musical Society and completed a "Movie Making" course at Dun Laoghaire Senior College. Loraine has also completed a Professional Development Course in Primary Dance for teachers.

Loraine has also performed in Hellenthal, Germany while on a 6 month college placement with the Fachhochshule, Aachen, Germany


Susan Kenny- Dance Teacher and Choreographer

Power Drama School are delighted to welcome the very talented Susan Kenny to our team.

Susan started dancing at the tender age of 3 with Rialto Variety Group and has been dancing ever since.  Susan trained at the Diggs Lane Academy for young performers and graduated from there.  She has performed with many musical societies over the years and her credits include, “42nd Street”, “Barnum” "Crazy for You" and “Singing in the Rain” with Guinness’s ‘Arthurs Team’, “Cabaret” with Inchicore, “7 Brides for 7 Brothers” with RTE, “The Wiz” with Navan Road and many, many more.

Susan was a member of several groups involved in Tops of the Town and reached the National Final with Dunnes Stores Musical and Drama Society which was televised live by RTE.  She also performed in their 50th Anniversary Show in Dublin’s Olympia Theatre and The Cork Opera House. 

Susan has choreographed a number of shows and pantomimes over the past few years. 

She worked with Theatre Train Ireland as their resident dance teacher for their Dublin school and choreographed their routines for the annual Theatre Train Convention in both Drurys Lane, London and The Palace Theatre in Manchester, for which she received an acknowledgement for her work. 

Susan has worked in both Cabaret and Television.

Loraine and Susan worked together in TheatreTrain Ireland where they collaborated on the very successful production of "A Christmas Carol" in the Axis Theatre.


Elizabeth Stears - Music Teacher


Music Teacher at Power Drama School


We are delighted to welcome Elizabeth Stears as our resident Music Teacher.

Elizabeth has a BA in Music and Drama from UCD and is currently completing her PDE in Music in Trinity College.

Elizabeth has been performing since she started Irish dancing at the age of three. From this, she attended the Billie Barry stage school for ten years. During this time, she performed in The Gaiety, Olympia and National Concert Hall. She has worked alongside the talents of Mick Lally (RIP) and June Rodgers and has recorded in Dublin's top recording studios.

After her time in Billie Barry, Elizabeth went on to study Drama in the Independent Theatre Workshop and then Music Theatre for Youth where she had the opportunity to perform in the Belfast Opera House under the teachings of well known West End choreographers and directors.

Whilst studying for her degree in Music in UCD, she was the choreographer and MD for the productions of The UCD Musical Society. She also performed on numerous occasions in UCD playing lead roles in Wicked, Cabaret and Beauty and the Beast.

Elizabeth says she is very happy to have joined Power Drama School to work with Loraine and Susan as Resident Music Teacher and looks forward to the continued success of the school.
