Rivian delivered 12,194 vehicles in Q2 2026, topping its own guidance and raising its full-year delivery target to between 65,000 and 70,000 units, according to CNBC's reporting on the Q2 numbers. The stronger quarter was driven by its electric delivery van and flagship R1 lineup, and the company also began deliveries of its midsize R2 SUV during the period — a genuinely new revenue stream rather than just incremental growth on existing models.
Rivian's momentum is also backed by a $1 billion Volkswagen equity infusion and a $4.5 billion Department of Energy loan secured for its Georgia manufacturing facility, giving the company meaningfully more balance-sheet runway than smaller EV rivals currently have.
This comes as California has moved to waive EV rebate price caps specifically for Rivian and Lucid, a policy tailwind that could further support demand for Rivian's pricier R1 models in its home state.
