Royal Enfield has resumed fitting a free gear position indicator (GPI) on select 350cc motorcycles manufactured after August 2025. The update applies to the Classic 350, Meteor 350, Hunter 350 and Goan Classic 350, and eligible bikes receive the feature through the brand's authorised service network.
The company had paused GPI installation for a period due to a shortage of the rare-earth material needed to manufacture the component. With that supply chain issue resolved, Royal Enfield has resumed fitting the feature on motorcycles that were built during the affected window.
Owners can check eligibility by looking up their vehicle identification number (VIN) on Royal Enfield's official website, or by visiting the nearest authorised service centre, where the VIN can be verified and the indicator fitted free of charge if the motorcycle qualifies. The gear position indicator displays the currently engaged gear on the instrument cluster — useful for new riders learning to judge gear selection, even though experienced riders often rely on feel alone.
