Sarah McKenna
Sarah is currently studying for a BA in History and Geography at Trinity College Dublin
She was a student at Power Drama School for five years, during which time she played many roles, including the lead role of Scrooge in “A Christmas Carol.”
In 2017, Sarah’s one-act play “Pigs in Blankets” won joint first prize in a one-act play competition hosted by Power Drama School and was performed both by Power Drama School students and in Crannóg Nua School.
A keen writer Sarah won the Listowel Writers’ Week Under Twelves’ Competition in 2014. In 2015 she won the Young Cúirt New Writing Prize and in 2019 she was awarded 2nd place in the P.J. O’Connor Radio Drama Awards. Her play, “Swept Under the Carpet” was performed on RTÉ Radio 1 on March 15th 2020.

This year, Sarah took part in the Players Playwriting Programme run by Trinity Players. She has also helped to write monologues for the World Monologue Games, which will be performed by students from Power Drama School later this year.
Her other interests include reading and playing traditional Irish music on the fiddle (which she has been doing for thirteen years). Sarah is an active member of the Trinity College Tradsoc and has played in the local Irish Music Group, Inis Rua since she was ten. She also enjoys public speaking. In 2019 she won the Inter-Loreto Public Speaking Competition. In 2018 she was given the Prosper Fingal Award for making a difference in her school community.
Sarah has a passion for drama and loves working with children. Over the last few years, Sarah has worked backstage at many of our productions and assisted with arts, crafts, and games at Power Drama School Summer Camps. She has also assisted at our Speech and Drama classes, helping students to prepare pieces for their exams. She really enjoys her current role as Class Assistant.
