Several leading two-wheeler brands including TVS, Honda and Yamaha are readying new maxi-scooters with liquid-cooled engines for the Indian market, most likely to go on sale within this fiscal year. TVS is reportedly working on an all-new maxi-scooter equipped with a newly developed 160cc liquid-cooled engine, positioned to compete directly with the Yamaha Aerox 155 and Hero Xoom 160.
This simultaneous push from three major manufacturers suggests the maxi-scooter segment, once a small niche in India, has grown large enough to justify dedicated liquid-cooled engineering investment rather than adapting existing air-cooled platforms.
We'll update this piece with confirmed specifications and launch timelines as each manufacturer moves closer to unveiling their respective maxi-scooter.
